The Power of the "Skirt"

Lying half-alive on my bed and having blister on my left foot. The reason is me once again being too "hao lian" and to join xj, eg & web for the run at bedok reservoir which was 8.5km long. The usual routine would be 1 round which is around 4.3km. (That's if I make the effort to join in!!)
The four of us met up ard 7.40pm where xj mentioned that she wanted to try 2 rounds today. Hmm..that made my eyes tickle at the thought already. Never had I run 2 rounds Bedok reservoir for the past 25 years. But man, no choice but to continue as face is too big to be lose...hahaha!!
I decided to conserve some energy during the first round and at the end of it, I had hope that xj will want to stop and call it a day. However, life in reality does not always go the way I want it to be. The engine had just started to accelerate and we just had to continue running. Oh my God!! Save me...I had not run more for the past 2 mths or maybe even more.
During the second round, the 500m sign apart seem to get longer and longer. There were times when I had wanted to give up but looking at the back of the gal, I simply had no choice but to continue running, running and running. Somehow or rather, this theory seem to apply to life also. There will always be times when we felt that we cannot move on, but there will be that someone or something to give us the strength to continue pushing forward or perservere till the end. So what's the one special thing that can motivate us in life? Maybe it's what eg had said, the power of the "skirt".
Luckily, xj decided to walk during the last 100m of the second round and I can of course start to walk as well. Thanks God, I managed to survive through another obstacle again. My "face" was saved once again...haha!! Anyway, eg kept persuading xj to come to Bedok frequently for a run as he believe that it will motivate his "mans" to run more frequently and also more distance as well. Haiz....is it a good thing or bad thing? Hmm.....

Mount Vernon

It's been close to one week since I came back from the US trip. Training session is going to be conducted next week and I've not finished my presentation slides yet. More responsibilities are coming my way and I better watch my steps..haha!!
Anyway, it's my first trip to the US and indeed many incidents are worth mentioning. The flight was 3 hrs to Hong Kong where we waited another 3 hrs then 14 hrs to Chicago then 3 hrs of waiting again and finally another 1.5 hrs flight to Columbus. The travelling time took close to one day and the space was so small in the plane. Worst still, I dun have SQ air stewardess to serve me red wine unlike someone else.....hee!!
The weather at Ohio was indeed colder than Singapore and the food was mostly fast food plus the chinese food was not that fantastic also. The second night when I went to the nearby chinese restaurant to have my dinner, I think I must have been such a idiot. I ordered a plate of sweet and sour chicken plus a plate of bean sprout with fried rice thinking it was meant to be "Zhi Cha" in Singapore. The chicken was served with the sauce separated in a small bowl where the sauce was gotten by the table nearby and the fried rice was taken from the buffet tray too. What I had not realized is that mostly all the people are eating buffet style for USD$12 while a "carrot" like me had ordered separately for close to $15.
On wednesday, the people fron Ansty invited all of us to a restaurant for dinner. I ordered fillet and the waiter asked how ripe I want it to be. Lots of question came to my head. How ripe I want the fish to be...hmm...strange? However, not wanting to appear stupid, I ordered medium cooked as I forgotten what is fully ripe known as? (Now I knew it's called well-done) After 15 minutes, a piece of meat appeared in front of my face where it seem like steak more than fish. Funny right? How in earth did my fish change into beef instead? (2 days later, I realized from my colleague that I had order something called "Fil-lon"?) I had to swallow the meat piece by piece with a mouth of rice each time...almost want to vomit at the end of the session!!
The trip was quite free and easy with about 2.5 days of relaxation. I managed to visit Cleveland, Easton & Polaris as my colleague drove me around. Went to three factory outlet which costs me close to SGD$1,000 for shopping. Broke liao...need to eat grass already. Anyway, the clothes, shoes, luggage and basically all the things there are all very cheap.
That's all for now and hopefully, the next trip will be a better one for me.
